Genetically Altered Foods in Grocery Stores

How much are you consuming genetically altered foods?

The genetic engineering of plants and animals is at an all time high in the 21st century.
Grocery stores and our kitchen pantries are being invaded by genetically altered foods because our most important staple food crops are being corrupted.

Scientist discovered they take the genetic material from one organism and insert it into the permanent genetic code of another. They have now come up with some creations such as:

Potatoes with bacteria genes
Pigs with human growth genes
fish with cattle growth gene
Tomatoes with flounder genes

...and thousands of other plants, animals and insects.

Currently, up to 40 percent of U.S. corn is genetically engineered as is 80 percent of soybeans.

It has been estimated that around 60 percent of processed foods on supermarket shelves contain genetically engineered ingredients. It could be anything from soda, soup, crackers to condiments.

How does genetically engineered food effects you?

Not only could genetically engineered foods pose a serious risk on humans, it also causes risk to animals, our enviroment and wildlife.

Human Health effects include:

Higher risks of toxicity
Allergenicity
Antibiotic resistance
Immune-suppression
Cancer

Environmental Impacts:

Biological pollution
Threatening numerous microbial
Plant Extinction
Animal Extinction
Potential contamination of all non-genetically engineered life forms
